Reaching the planned northern boundary of our traveling together.

Spokane, WA

Lori arranged for us to have a wonderful house to stay in for a few days at the end of our adventure together. Zoom philosophy groups, a swim in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where a possible non-player-character was sighted wearing a big sign: "LIVE IN JOY."

Seven bid a tearful farewell to traveling companion Andrea as he looked to the south once again.

The Road South

Crossed many miles of amber waves of grain before encountering numerous forest fire zones in recovery.  As I continued, I saw new smoke filling the air, and more all but blotting out the Sun.

Its a big place with room for vast numbers of variations. And that's just on the surface.

Fort Rock, OR

I arrived as dark was setting, so I cooked a stew of canned beans and fresh vegetables, planning to climb to the rock top in the morning for the sunrise.  The climb is more challenging than I recalled of my 1991 visit, so the sun got the upper hand and watched the Seven-rise instead.

As I drove dipping into world after world, cicadas finished their lives on my grill and windshield.

Sprauge River, OR

Inventor Tom invited me to help him measure some building materials here. His plan for the wheels are electrifying.  I arrived with the area charged by a smoky forest fire being fought a few miles away, a fire that has now spread to become the biggest on the west coast.

Through Nevada mountains into California I encountered still more active evidence of fires.

Lake Tahoe, CA

Returning to the triangle house of Mother Carolyn for a final week of traveling deep into the heart.  A past-life psychic told me some stories I could feel vibrating behind the veil of forgetting.

My last night on the road, and yet another Temple, this one to the highway Route 66.

Barstow, CA

This temple to Route 66 is adjacent to a free public bike repair station that is completely dysfunctional due to apparent vandalism.  Did the automobile spirit of Rt 66 exact revenge on the bicycle machine?  I ate a donut in contemplation, and then proceeded to an I-40 rest stop for the night.
